this week, the pentagon released the names of five soldiers killed in afghanistan. and finally, "your voice" this week. today's question comes from cheryl robinson who writes "what happened in benghazi was terribly tragic, and now we're hearing of another middle eastern war on the brick. let us and you the media not forget about the war that our own kids are fighting for us in afghanistan. why is there so little coverage?" well, because, unfortunately, very few people feel the way you do, cheryl. there is a war weariness with the public, and outside of campaign season, the war is not often mentioned. the administration talks about it largely to say we are leaving, but we should all remember that nearly 70,000 americans are still in afghanistan facing death and injury, and we should remember we have promised our combat troops will remain there for another two years. that's all for us today. thanks for sharing part of your sunday with us. check out "world news" with david muir tonight. george stephanopoulos will see you back here next week. george stephanopoulos will

and the other has to do with the pentagon. and john mccain is the ranking republican on the armed services committee. i asked about how they're going to go forward with their investigation of general allen's alleged flirtatious e-mails with a woman. watch this. >> and i just was very surprised and the secretary of defense called me up and said that they were going to have a full investigation, that general allen denies any impropriety, so i think it's appropriate to have the investigation go forward and the senate armed forces committee look at it as well. >> are you comfortable with him serving in his current capacity? >> yes. i am -- i am comfortable with that. we need someone in charge. no one has ever argued that his performance of duty is not been excellent. but we are going forward with the hearing for his replacement, as you know. and that hearing, i'm sure will be resolved, this issue of succession. >> and again, that was senator mccain talking about the, now the scandal they're dealing with senator allen. making clear

the pentagon is combing through thousands of pages of documents belonging to john allen. he's denied any wrong doing. a u.s. official tells nbc news that the documents could connect general allen to jill kelley. she's the same woman whose original complaint about harassing e-mails set off the initial investigation. e-mails that multiple law enforcement sources tell nbc was traced back to this woman, paula broadwell. she's admitted to an affair with dvp dp. last night fbi agents searched paula broadwell's home, the home she shares with her family. she had given them permission to go into the home. they took out boxes and apparently photo es. joining me now is jim frederick, editor at "time" magazine. i heard people joke about this and all the salacious titles. but at the heart of this are some serious and legitimate conce concerns. the president not making any huge pronouncements, but starting with general allen here, the e-mails were exchanged over a two-year span. his confirmation is being held up. that's a big deal. >> it's a huge deal. the story is changing by the hour
